MWA delivered the full principal contractor fit-out of YUUM, a traditional Japanese mochi café at The Whiteley development in Bayswater, a technically complex 120 m² project incorporating a structural mezzanine installation, raised floor construction, specialist kitchen and café fit-out, and the co-ordination of 69 client-supplied items. The completed café provides a fully operational customer, kitchen and back-of-house environment, including full MEP systems, AV and technology infrastructure.
The complexity of this project is disproportionate to its footprint. The structural mezzanine installation, combined with the coordination of 69 individual client-supplied items from multiple specialist vendors, full fire safety compliance including sprinkler and fire alarm systems, and the precision required in a specialist Japanese food concept kitchen, made this a technically demanding programme. MWA’s role as principal contractor across all elements, including detailed coordination of all specialist joinery, kitchen equipment and multi-vendor fit-out items, was central to delivery.
All AV, technology infrastructure, point-of-sale systems and specialist café equipment were installed, integrated and commissioned prior to handover, with YUUM opening for trading from day one at The Whiteley.
